Join us Friday, October 8 at 7:00 in the Rogue River Room on the Southern
Oregon University campus for a special Sneak Preview of the National Broadcast
Premiere of CRATER LAKE: THE MIRROR OF HEAVEN. The first nationally televised
production from Southern Oregon Public Television, THE MIRROR OF HEAVEN explores
one of America’s most magnificent bodies of water. Shot in high-definition
to capture the breathtaking magnificence of the lake and its surrounding area,
the film details its volcanic formation and its role in Native American history.
It also portrays the lifelong struggle of William Gladstone Steel to preserve
the pristine beauty of Crater Lake, culminating in its designation as a National
Park in 1902. Using re-enactments, vintage lantern slides, and computer animation,
THE MIRROR OF HEAVEN is an awe-inspiring witness to Crater Lake’s fascinating
past and present.
The documentary will be preceded by a reception and will be followed by a
program presented by Scott McKeown, Joaquin Miller’s Oregon.
